Book Review: Archer’s Voice – Mia Sheridan
When Bree Prescott arrives in the sleepy, lakeside town of Pelion, Maine, she hopes against hope that this is the place where she will finally find the peace she so desperately seeks. On her first day there, her life collides with Archer Hale, an isolated man who holds a secret agony of his own. A man no one else sees.
Archer’s Voice is the story of a woman chained to the memory of one horrifying night and the man whose love is the key to her freedom. It is the story of a silent man who lives with an excruciating wound and the woman who helps him find his voice. It is the story of suffering, fate, and the transformative power of love.

I am so mad at myself for not having read Archer’s Voice earlier. It’s literally perfect, incredible, and flawless (insert Yeat song) . I’m not going to lie, at first, I was a bit skeptical about the rave, but now… I finally get it. This book surpasses all expectations and deserves every bit of the hype, and then some!
If I’m being honest, I’m kind of having trouble detaching myself from the story and keep wanting to read the chapters over and over and over and over and over… you get the idea. I think from the moment I got my hands on this book till the time I finished it I maybe came out of my zone for 2 hours? Maybe even 1? Anyway, Bree and Archer forever!
“Try to believe that maybe more light shines out of those who have the most cracks.” ~ Mia Sheridan, Archer’s Voice
So basically, this book is about a troubled woman named Bree Prescott, who visits the lakeside town of Pelion, Maine, hoping to seek refuge from her own mind. There she meets a man named Archer Hale, who also happens to be flooded with his own problematic thoughts. Bree Prescott has a traumatic memory that always follows her around, shattering her heart into pieces every time she thinks about it.
Archer Hale is a man who keeps to himself, suppressing all of the agony inside him. Throughout the story, Bree, a compassionate woman guides him toward self-expression. Within its narrative lies the exploration of anguish, destiny, and the profound ability of affection to provoke deep change.
This book was oh so emotional, I literally bawled my eyes every single chapter , no change. Bree’s perspective predominantly shaped the narrative, interwoven with occasional flashback scenes delving into Archer’s backstory. I like how this story was structured. It was ideal as it enabled us to closely follow Bree’s journey while establishing a deep emotional connection with Archer.
As the story progressed, glimpses of present-day scenes from Archer’s point of view emerged, adding further layers to the unfolding tale. I was peeling an onion as I read the book, I was unraveling Archer’s story and what made him how he is. Bree and Archer’s connection was unbreakable, first, they became friends, then they became lovers. It was true love, no ghosting involved ♀️, all of it was pure.
I also loved Archer Hale’s character, he maybe even beats our beloved Aaron Warner – Shatter Me… maybe. These words come to mind when I think of him: Enigmatic, impenetrable, endearing, voiceless, captivating, fractured, introverted, formidable, watchful. Moreover, I really liked Bree Prescot.. ooh la la, she was just so good – such a kind-hearted and sweet person. The intensity of their chemistry was undeniable, igniting like a blazing fire.
This book was a big whirlwind of emotions, I laughed, cried, ached, swooned, loved, and every other emotion you can possibly feel (apart from some, iykyk) .
Something I didn’t exactly fangirl over was that, first of all, some situations just seemed too coincidental, making the book feel fake or unreal. And truly, some parts of the book were kind of awkward for me to read, but I am an awkward person, so don’t quote me on that. And that’s it. Other than that, I am a huge fan of this book!
