Nancy Savage’s debut novel, The Couple In Cabin 14, is a perfect read for someone like me! It is a beautifully brewed concoction of mystery, thriller, suspense, and psychological triggers. It is a riveting novel with a perfect dose of drama. It grabbed my attention and intrigue from the first page, and I hung on until the story ended. I am so grateful to Nancy for sending me an online ARC; I truly loved her thriller novel!
The story circles a couple, Amber and Dean, eagerly anticipating a relaxing week in a luxury cabin, hoping it will provide a much-needed respite from their stress-filled lives. Amber’s instincts quickly lead her to suspect that their seemingly perfect neighbors, Sophie and Marcus from Cabin 14, are hiding something sinister.
The novel has an engaging atmosphere from the start and maintains it throughout. As I’ve mentioned before, it’s a nice blend of suspense and thriller. The intrigue starts with Amber’s suspicion of Sophie and Marcus, which sets the stage for a tension-filled narrative, where her relentless pursuit of the truth drives the plot forward.
Nancy is great at maintaining a fast-paced pace throughout the book without the reader getting bored between actions. The plot narrative has numerous twists and turns that keep the readers on the edge of their seats. The ending is also very satisfactory because it is unexpected and surprising. Savage’s ability to weave a complex tale with well-developed characters makes for an enjoyable and gripping read.
The only flaw I would say is that Amber’s obsessive behavior makes her a bit less authentic and relatable to the readers than the other characters. Additionally, the quick resolution of the story might leave some wanting more depth or time with the characters.
