what are the consequences of silence?
i used to believe that silence was a virtue. is it really though?
if somebody used to bully me. just ignore them. stay silent. somebody made a derogatory statement to someone else. walk away stay silent and don’t risk your saftey. there was a new political policy i opposed don’t protest? stay silent, don’t let anyone hurt me because of my views, let soembody else do the protesting. somebody else can defend, protest, and advocate… why should i? but what if my doctor thinks the same way when they are treating me? what about my accountant who handles my finances? what about the police officers going out for their daily rounds, and the firefighters, and the hospice workers? what about the retail worker, the neigbour, my mom, my dad, my siblings? what if they all think the same way? silence.
